Structured hiring and interview process at an educational institution

Recruitment process

Hiring at BAFSS is designed to be predictable for candidates and accountable for panels. Exact dates move with the academic calendar, but the sequence below is what most people experience from first click to first day on payroll.

Stages from application to offer

  1. Expression of interest — Complete the Apply form with CV, cover note, and scanned credentials. Name files clearly (e.g. CV_Surname_2026.pdf).
  2. Document verification — Registry checks degrees, professional registrations, and identity proofs. Unclear scans or missing pages are the most common delay; re-upload promptly if asked.
  3. Panel interview — Teachers face pedagogical scenarios; support staff receive short operational cases. Panels include subject or function specialists plus a senior leader.
  4. Demonstration lesson or desk task — Faculty candidates may teach a brief segment with learners or peers; some administrative roles complete a timed data exercise instead.
  5. Reference contact — We speak to referees listed on your CV. Alert them in advance so they recognise our call or email.
  6. Offer and pre-employment checks — Written offer, contractual terms, and safeguarding induction prerequisites.
  7. Onboarding week — Policy briefings, timetable orientation, and IT access. New teachers usually shadow a mentor class before taking full ownership.

What slows shortlisting (and how to avoid it)

Administrative friction

Password-protected PDFs, portrait photos pasted into Word instead of a clean JPEG, or ZIP files with duplicate filenames all add handling time. PDF is preferred.

Mismatch of lane

Applying through faculty documentation for a registry post—or vice versa—routes your file to the wrong queue. Confirm your track on the opportunities page.

After you receive an offer

Expect calendar invites for safeguarding training, examination briefing (if you assess), and co-curricular allocation. If you relocate from outside Sylhet division, build buffer days for housing and transport—the first fortnight of term rarely forgives late arrivals.
